Joslin - Head Coach / Senior Coach
email
DeaAnn began swimming
when she was 12-years old and living in Colorado. Her love and dedication
for the sport of swimming earned her High School State Champion. Swimming
for Colorado State she was a 9-Time Collegiate All American. In 1980 she
ended the first phase of her swimming career and later graduated from
CU with a BS-nursing in 1982.
DeaAnn began coaching
at the age group level in 1985 with the Petaluma Swim Club (PET). She
later advanced to Head Age Group Coach at Indian Valley Aquatics (IVAN).
In 1991 she took the Head Coaching position for PET where she led the
team for the next 10 years.
In March of 2006 DeaAnn
created Westside Aquaducks (WA) where she remains to date as Head Coach
and head of Westside's Learn-To-Swim program.
DeaAnn has 5 children
and an amazingly supportive husband. For fun she trains herself and the
Petaluma Masters. In addition to her daily workouts in the pool, she enjoys
weekly dips in the bay and splashing from island to island in Hawaii.

I started swimming
on the Petaluma Swim Team when I was 6 years old. I swam for Petaluma
High School, Santa Rosa Junior College and San Diego State University.
I reached Junior Nationals achievements at the Club level and was a
State Champion during my JC years. I was fortunate enough to swim in
Hawaii, Santa Clara and Washington on the All Star Teams. Swimming
has always been a part of my life. I continue to stay in shape so that
I can compete in the SRJC Alumni meet every year.
I started coaching when I was 20 years old, took a break and coached
again when I was 24 years old. I am excited to be a part of the swimming
world again. I bring my experience and knowledge of the sport as not
only a swimmer, but also a coach.

"The 9 years
I spent swimming on the Petaluma Swim Club were some of the best years
of my life. I joined the team when I was 8 years old and quickly made
all kinds of new friends from all different walks of life, many of
whom I still keep in contact with today (thank you Facebook). It didn't
matter if they were boys or girls, older or younger, or went to a different
school . For me, the best part about swimming was the social time:
hanging out with my friends at practice, getting to meet new people,
and visiting with friends from other teams at swim meets.
I have experience
teaching swim lessons to both children and adults. I've worked with
non-swimmers afraid to put their faces in the water and adults that
never learned to swim as children. This will be my first experience
with coaching at the team level and I'm very excited to put my stroke
knowledge to use. I also look forward to being able to work alongside
my good friend and sister Melissa.
I have a wonderful husband and two
energetic boys whom I love spending time with. I work as a substitute
teacher and classroom aide at my boys' school and guide for a local
bike tour company. I have a degree from Sonoma State University in
Liberal Studies as well as a Cosmetology degree. In my “spare” time
I enjoy yoga, running, kayaking, reality TV, reading, cooking and scrapbooking.
