Hello Duck families!

June is fast approaching and this means move-ups and Lake Berryessa.

The coaches had a very productive meeting this past week, in which we created
criteria for entry into each of our groups, including our new D4 group. (D3's
have been split into two groups do to the size of the group).

The group criteria is posted in the General Information section of our site. The group lists, (including recent move-ups) is below and is to be effective on June 1, 2008.

Please note that the move-ups will take place one week before the summer training schedule begins...so if your child is moving, this will feel a bit like a fire drill. If your child is in either of the D3 or D4 groups, they will run on the spring schedule for the first week of June, but be separated by training lanes.

Our staffing will be adjusted beginning in June as well. We will be saying
good-bye to Katie Sibbald as our D2 coach. Katie will have a full summer getting
ready to go to college in Oregon...where she will continue to be a Duck...Right
on, Katie!

Katie will coach thru the June 6.
Jenny McDonald will be on deck beginning June 9.

Silver - Lisa Gutt

I couldn't be happier about the staff on deck! We're gonna have a great summer!
Please note that if your child moves to a new group, there may be a dues
change. D4's will have the same dues as D3's...so no change there.

If, in looking through the group lists, you have any questions about your
child's group placement, contact his/her coach and you can set up a time to talk
about it. If you approach the coach of the next group up or myself, you'll be
referred back to your primary coach, who is the expert on your child.

The LAKE BERRYESSA OPEN WATER swim is coming up on Saturday, June 7.
In this event, 10 & unders swim a 500 yard race. 11 & overs will swim 1 mile. If you
have not yet entered, it is not too late. Entries while a little more expensive; can be
done on race day.

Each year we do a practice swim at Yorty Creek (Lake Sonoma's small craft
launching area). This year's practice swim will be next Saturday, May 28.

The seniors will swim at 8:00am, all other swimmers should plan to be there, ready
to swim by 9:00am. There will be instruction on open water swimming, a warm-up
in the enclosed swim area and then a short practice swim outside of the marked
area with kayak pilots supervising the swim.

We would like to have this be a fun team event this year...bring a picnic and a suit and stay to play. If you have a kayak or other non motored boat, bring it.

Directions to Yorty Creek are as follows:

Take 101 North
Take the South Cloverdale Blvd exit in Cloverdale
Turn Left onto S. Cloverdale Blvd
Turn Right after going over the highway to stay on S. Cloverdale Blvd.
Turn Left onto Elbridge
Turn Right onto S. Foothill Blvd
Turn Left onto Hot Springs Road....this road will end at the lake
(as in...if you keep driving you'll eventually launch your car into the lake...so watch for the parking lot. :)

Whether or not you plan to swim at Lake Berryessa, this will be a fun morning to swim or just splash around in the lake. I will bring yellow caps for all swimmers.
